Lots of updating

So, I haven't been able to log into this for ages, for some reason. I'm not enitrely sure how I got into it now in fact.

So, I've been on summer holiday which has been all good. So far I've spent some time at home, took the Brownies away on Pack Holiday and spent a week on an all inclusive trip to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt (which was just wonderful, no thanks to the tour company (never travel with Thomas Cook) or the fact that I picked up a tummy bug which I still have).

I've also finished my Adipose for the Ravelry Doctor Who Adipose knit-a-long which should be sent to the BBC by Mazzmatazz (hopefully it will be well knit enough). I've also knitted two Coachellas which have turned out to be my favourite knit in absolutely ages - really easy to do and look fantastic on. Unfortunately the first one has stretched enormously (not sure if this is down to the yarn (Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in New Age Teal) or the pattern). I'm going to try and block it smaller or shrink it a little. I'm a little worried that the second one will stretch as much. Whilst in Egypt I cast on for Yosemite, but haven't managed to get further than the first three rows as BOTH times I managed to twist the stitches when joining for the round - something I've never done before and now I'm done it twice on the same project. I'm not sure this is meant to be! One more try and then I'll have to find another project for the yarn (Rowan Calmer in Chocolate Brown).

Today was GCSE results day, so I popped into school to see the kids. It was heaving with them and most of them did at least what was expected, if not better. There were a few disappointments, as there always are, but most of the kids I spoke to had managed to secure college places or had already got jobs, which was really good news. I'm not sure what our figures are, but apparantly they're better than last year - not that we could have done much worse!

I got to hear some of the gossip as well. Apparantly the school business manager along with her partner the head of facilities (glorified caretaker) were suspended and she was escourted offsite by police! She has since handd in her resignation! Which may mean for once that we could be in with a shot of someone actually listening when we try and tell them that its not far that people who sit in an office all day get paid more than us! Not that there's anything wrong with being school admin, but we're on the frontline, we should at least be paid equal!

Now I've got to try and decide if I'm going to go to knitting club or not. I would like to, especially when I went two weeks ago after not having been for ages to find that a woman I worked with for two years has started going, but due to this tummy bug I've not been feeling to good today. Not sure how good an idea it will be to be out of the house for long, though I did manage it this morning. Will probably be ok as long as I don't eat anything.

This was a massive update. Hopefully I'll be able to get into this before too long so it won't have to go as long with no blogging.

A Positive Post For Once

Yesterday I had my first ever driving lesson, having never previously sat in a car before. It was so much fun, I loved it and I've spent all day just wanting to drive more!

Haven't been knitting much though - I need to find the time to do more. And stop promising people I'll join in with projects and then not having the time to. It's very bad of me. Still, driving will give me more time to do the things I like as I won't have to walk everywhere. Yay!

Everything is rubbish

I was really really looking forward to my birthday this year, but (as usual) everything has gone wrong and it's going to be rubbish.

Have had a rubbish day.

Have not done any knitting for ages because I can't afford yarn.

Bah.

Bad week

Just finished a day from hell at the end of a week from hell. Am absolutely exhausted, but I'm going to be so busy over the weekend.

Haven't really been knitting much of late, though I did cast on for Spirogyra yesterday as part of the WoW Ravellers group KAL. Mostly I've been playing a lot of WoW recently - the Ravelry guild is up and running and it's been nice to have people to chat to whilst online.

So tired.

I woke up this morning with my glands inflamed, my temperature dropped and just generally feeling run down. The best bit of all of this? I'm not ill. No no, I'm exhausted. This is my body screaming at me to take some damn rest. And in three days I will. Of course before that I've got three really hectic and busy days and I imagine I'm only going to feel worse.

Today has been buzzing at school as there was a murder on the estate. Or rather and old man on the estate who sold cigerettes to the underage kids (as young as 8/9) got in a fight and died of a heart attack. Which is of course gross negligence manslaughter, but the guy was arrested for murder anyhow. And as the kids all know the guy who died they've all been rather subdued today. Which led to a somewhat quieter day for us actually.

Haven't done much in the way of knitting as I pretty much collapsed when I got home and then spent the evening searching for some CD's I want to put on my iPod. Ho hum.

Tempting II

Having now finished Fetching (I'll be posting them off to my mother tomorrow in time for her birthday), the project currently driving me mad is Tempting II. I've knitted the body to be as long as the pattern says, but when I hold it up against me it seems like there's a good two inches of belly that's going to show, so I'm just keeping on going. I checked out some other blog posts and it does look like a lot of people have added at least 1" to the suggested length, but I'm worried about running out of yarn. I think I need to measure the length of my torso as I've had problems with patterns not fitting my (actually not that) tall frame before.

In other news this week has been absolutely exhausting and I've spent most of today wanting to go back to bed, but after a 12 hour sleep last night it would seem a little excessive. I've also been thinking a lot more about the possibility of going into teaching. I'm kinda torn as it makes sense for me to go into it, but I'm not feeling any sort of 'calling' at the moment. Though as I'd like to keep working at my job for at least another year (though preferrably to see my current year 9's finish their GCSE's) I don't need to make a decision right now. It would just be nice to start coming up with a career path for myself.

New Knitty

So, new knitty is up and despite my comments yesterday, there is a pattern, that involves cabling that I really like. In fact there's quite a few patterns on there that I can see myself doing in the near future. Though one of the fun bits about being so new to the whole knitting obsession is making my way through the knitty backcatelog.

Today I cast on for the other glove for Fetching. I was planning on doing this for most of the evening but I tripped rather spectacularly over one of my other projects and managed to pull out a couple of stitches so I had to spend some time fixing that too.

At work I found out that next Tuesday I have a training session after work which means I might not be able to go and coach at the gym. Well, it's gonna be one or tother, I can't do both. I'm annoyed less because of the fact that I'll have to miss coaching and more because work seems to be slowly taking over more and more of my life and stopping me from doing the things I enjoy. Bah. Still, I'm feeling all full of tea (decaff of course) and am looking forward to curling up in bed. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Fetching

I'm impressed with this Fetching pattern. I'm knitting it for my Mother's birthday (I am opposed to cables as I really don't like how they look, but they've been fun to learn for a project for someone else), so I bought the yarn (Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran) yesterday and have already completed one. Looks like I'm definitely on track to be sending them out well in advance of her actual birthday, which will be nice.

In other news, Stef wasn't at work today which means I've been absolutely run off my feet. I'm so looking forward to the holidays...
